The Utah Home Builders Association provides continuing education for contractors in Utah to help you improve your skills so you can renew your license.

An Overview of Our Continuing Education Courses

We offer a range of continuing education classes for contractors in Utah. Our courses adhere to the continuing education requirement for license renewal.

We conduct in-person classes in St. George, Ogden and the Salt Lake City area. The price for each course is $150. In-person classes run from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and include:

Online students will watch a live class recording, which consists of an audio discussion from the teacher and PowerPoint slides. They will also receive worksheets via email as an additional resource. The fee for these online courses is $80.

With our webinar continuing education classes, you have two options: three-hour or six-hour courses. Attendees are required to have a webcam to verify attendance and participation. The fee for the three-hour webinar class is $80, while the cost of a six-hour course is $150. The three-hour course is 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., while the six-hour course is from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Students have the option to enroll in Basic Project Management and Accounting Essentials.

Continuing Education Requirements

The Division of Occupational & Professional Licensing (DOPL) requires contractors in Utah to:

Complete six hours of continuing education courses for license renewal, at least three of which must be a core course

Complete a minimum of three course hours via a live webinar or in person
