Licensing by endorsement

Certain out-of-state licensed contractors might be exempt from the pre-license course requirement for a Utah's Contractor license. Call the Utah Division of Occupational Professional Licensing (DOPL) to see if you might apply for your Utah license by endorsement.

Course Overview

The Utah Home Builders Association offers a 25-hour pre-license course for contractors. We offer courses throughout Utah, including St. George, Ogden, Logan and Draper.

Course details are:

Day Schedule:

Wednesday - Frida, 8AM to 4PM

(Draper and Logan)

Wenesday - Friday 8AM to 4PM

(Ogden and St. George)

Night Schedule:

Monday to Friday 5PM to 10PM

(Draper only)

Course Fee:

$350 (includes free class transfers and cancellations)

Background and Objectives of the Course

This course introduces contractors to a range of topics, including lien law, construction accounting, project management and insurance. Students will also attend a workshop from the Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing (DOPL).

At the end of the course, attendees will be able to:

Demonstrate proficiency in the lien laws of Utah

Understand the job roles and responsibilities of a contractor

Avoid mistakes common to new contractors
